KINGS POINT, NY - Taking on their first Skyline opponent of the season, the Yeshiva Women's Volleyball Team fell at the United States Merchant Marine Academy, losing to the Mariners by a score of 3-0 on Thursday, Sept. 11.
Offensively, the Maccabees were led by
Elle Ohayon and
Shany Elmaleh, with Ohayon tallying three kills while Elmaleh notched four assists.
Ohayon also had a stellar night on the defensive side of the ball, recording a team-leading mark of 10 digs.
With the loss, the Macs are now 2-3, 0-1 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- While the Macs were able to keep things close early on in set one, even taking a 3-2 lead off a kill from Progress Gasa, USMMA quickly took control. Yeshiva saw just one more kill throughout the period, with the Macs dropping the set, 25-10.
- Much like the first set, set two once again saw the Macs keep pace early on, trailing by just two points at 8-6. Unfortunately, Yeshiva's attack could not keep up with USMMA, as YU fell, 25-11.
- A kill from Ohayon to open set three proved the highlight of the period, as the Maccabees lost, 25-6.
