PURCHASE, NY - Playing on the road for the final time during the regular season, the Yeshiva Women's Tennis Team fell at Manhattanville University, losing to the Valiants by a score of 6-1 on Tuesday, Sept. 16th.
 
The Maccabees started out slow, winning just one of three doubles matches, falling behind 1-0 headed into singles play. While Yeshiva managed their first point of the contest, picking up a singles win, the effort was not enough to stage a comeback, as the Macs fell, 6-1.
 
With the result, the Macs are now 3-3, 2-3 in conference play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Doubles:

• The Maccabees struggled early, as the pairs of Micka Mimoun/Rina Pollock and Sarah Schewitz/Anna Laufer dropped the No. 1 and No. 2 seeded matches respectively.
   
• YU did pick up a win in the No. 3 match, with the duo of Sarah Grunseid/Eliana Tilem besting their opponents, 6-3.
   
• However, with the earlier losses, the Macs trailed 1-0 heading into singles play.

 
Singles:

• Yeshiva saw success in singles. Grunseid picked up YU's first and only point of the dual match, taking a 6-3, 6-4 win in the No. 6 singles slot.
   
• Reigning Skyline Rookie of the Week Schewitz nearly joined her teammate in victory, dropping a three set marathon by a razor-thin margin, 6[5]-7[7], 7[7]-6[3], 7-5.
   
• However, the other four Maccabees could not replicate that same success. Pollock, Mimoun, Laufer and Gabrielle Resnick all fell in their matches, as the Macs lost, 6-1.
