BROOKLYN, NY - Taking on their final opponent before the holidays, the Yeshiva Women's Volleyball Team fell to St. Joseph's University Brooklyn, losing to the Bears by a score of 3-0 on Wednesday, Sept. 18th.
Offensively, the Maccabees were led by
Elle Ohayon and
Shany Elmaleh, with Ohayon notching eight kills, while Elmaleh tallied seven assists.
On the defensive side of the ball,
Progress Gasa had a stellar outing, putting up two blocks and six digs on the night.
With the loss, the Macs are now 2-6, 0-4 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first set saw both sides stay relatively close through the first 19 serves, with the Macs trailing by just three at 11-8. However, it was then that SJBK ran away with the period. Yeshiva managed just one more kill, ultimately falling, 25-14.
- The Macs' struggles continued in set two. Despite early kills from Ohayon and Gasa, Yeshiva simply could not keep up with the SJBK attack, dropping the period, 25-9.
- The Macs regrouped in the third set, jumping out to an early 5-2 lead. SJBK would rally back, yet Yeshiva refused to roll over, tying the period four different times at 7-7, 8-8, 9-9- and 11-11. The Bears managed to secure some breathing room, but the Macs refused to go away, behind by just two points at 19-17. It was then however that the Yeshiva offense ran out of gas. The Maccabees secured just one more point, as SJBK went on to win the set, 25-18.
