NEW YORK, NY - Recording the team's first hat trick of the season, the Yeshiva Men's Soccer Team drew Farmingdale State College, tying the Rams at a score of 4-4 on Monday, Sept. 29th.
The Maccabees saw a truly special performance out of striker
Franco Busso. Dominating the offensive side of the ball, the Argentinian was involved in all four of YU's goals, scoring the first three himself, and assisting on the fourth.
With the result, the Macs are now 1-3-4, 1-1-4 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Macs came out of the gate swinging, scoring less than 90 seconds in when Busso fielded a pass from Lotan Sapir and buried a shot in the lower left-hand corner of the goal.
- Busso struck again just six minutes later, upping Yeshiva's lead to 2-0 after he forced a turnover by Farmingdale's keeper and backheeled the ball into the back of the net.
- The Rams responded in the 11th minute, cutting YU's edge to 2-1. However, Yeshiva once again found paydirt in the 15th minute, when Busso headed in his third goal to complete the hat trick. The Maccabees' 3-1 lead would hold into the half.
- Yeshiva carried their first half momentum into the second, scoring for the fourth time in the 62nd minute. Hadar Lavinsky perfectly controlled a pass from Busso, beating the keeper one-on-one to grow YU's margin to 4-1.
- However, despite the successes of the Yeshiva offense, the defensive unit struggled. Over the final 30 minutes of play, the Macs surrendered three goals, seeing the game tied at 4-4. Throughout that same period, YU launched two more shots on target, but both were turned away. By the time the final horn sounded, both teams walked away with a draw.
