PURCHASE, NY - Taking on a team yet to lose in conference play, the Yeshiva Women's Basketball Team fell to Manhattanville University, losing to the Valiants by a score of 78-47 on Thursday, Jan. 15th.
The Maccabees were led on both sides of the ball by a pair of double-doubles, with
Naomi Sigman posting 14 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, one block, and one steal, while
Fortune Hanan tallied a statline of 12 rebounds, 10 points, six blocks, one assist, and one steal.
With the result, the Macs are now 1-14, 0-10 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Yeshiva struggled in the first quarter, only tallying nine points on 4-13 shooting. Manhattanville took full advantage, jumping out to a 22-point lead at 31-9.
- The Maccabees fared better in quarter number two, posting 12 points thanks to stellar shooting from Sigman, Eliana Leitner, Tali Cohen, and Simone Amkraut. However, despite the success, YU still trailed 48-21 headed into the break.
- The Macs had their most successful stretch of play in the third quarter, outscoring Manhattanville by a 16-14 margin. Helmed by five points from Sigman, Yeshiva drew within 25 at 62-37.
- YU continued to produce at a steady clip throughout the fourth, putting up 10 points off buckets from Sigman, Hanan, and Jasmin Maly-Danker. Unfortunately, the effort was not enough to overcome their deficit, with the Maccabees ultimately falling, 78-47.
