OLD WESTBURY, NY - Maintaining their unbeaten Skyline mark, the Yeshiva Men's Basketball Team took down The College at Old Westbury, beating the Panthers by a score of 72-58 on Tuesday, Jan. 20th.
 
The Maccabees were helmed by the dynamic duo of Zevi Samet and Yoav Oselka. Samet led the team in scoring with 22 points, while Oselka excelled on both sides of the ball, tallying a double-double at 21 points and 14 rebounds.
 
With the win, the Macs improve to 9-8, 8-0 in conference play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Both teams traded baskets through the first 13 minutes of play, seeing the lead change hands five times before settling at 22-all. However, catalyzed by a deep three from Samet, the Maccabee offense exploded, leaving Old Westbury in the dust. A 16-5 run to close out the half gave the YU a comfortable cushion, carrying a 38-27 edge into the break.
   
• Yeshiva's lead remained steady early in the first half, orbiting 10 points through five minutes. The Macs finally broke away in the seventh minute, embarking on a 16-3 stretch that catapulted their advantage out to 23 points at 62-39 with 8:54 remaining in regulation.
   
• YU's hold on the game proved absolute. Regardless of an Old Westbury push that cut the margin between the two squads down to 14, the Maccabees' lead proved insurmountable. As the final buzzer sounded, the men in blue and white left the Clark Athletic Center with a 72-58 win.
