NEWBURGH, NY - Taking on one of the top teams in the conference, the Yeshiva Women's Basketball Team fell to Mount Saint Mary College, losing to the Knights by a score of 85-33 on Wednesday, Jan. 21st.
The Maccabees were led by
Naomi Sigman, with the junior guard putting up a statline of 19 points, seven rebounds, and two steals.
With the result, the Macs are now 1-16, 0-12 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Maccabees fell behind early on, seeing Mount Saint Mary score 12 points before managing a basket of their own. While shots from Sigman and Tali Cohen finally got YU on the board, the women in blue and white closed out the first quarter down 26-10.
- Yeshiva's struggles continued in the second quarter, only scoring seven points. When paired with Mount Saint Mary's 20, the Macs trailed 46-17 at the half.
- YU's deficit grew in the third, stretching out to 50 points at 73-23 by the time the period came to an end.
- The Macs had their most successful quarter in the fourth, scoring 10 points over 10 minutes to MSM's 12. However, the effort was not enough, with Yeshiva leaving Newburgh with an 85-33 loss.
