NEW YORK, NY - Opening February at home, the Yeshiva Women's Basketball Team fell to the United States Merchant Marine Academy, losing to the Mariners by a score of 76-22 on Sunday, Feb. 1st.
The Maccabees were led by
Eliana Leitner, with the sophomore guard putting up a team-leading eight points.
Fortune Hanan also had a stellar outing, notching three blocks.
With the result, the Macs are now 1-18, 0-14 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Yeshiva bookended the first quarter with a pair of threes, with both Naomi Sigman and Leitner connecting from deep. Unfortunately, those proved the only points the Macs would manage, closing out the period down, 27-6.
- YU broke into the double digits in the second quarter, with shots from Simone Amkraut, Danielle Zaretsky, Tali Cohen, and Leitner giving the Maccabee eight points over 10 minutes. Regardless, USMMA continued to produce at a steady clip, with Yeshiva trailing at half by a score of 46-14.
- The Macs scored just eight points in the second half. When the final horn sounded, YU walked out of Baruch College with a 76-22 loss.
