PURCHASE, NY - Playing on the road for the penultimate time this season, the Yeshiva Men's Basketball Team took down Manhattanville University, beating the Valiants by a score of 79-57 on Sunday, Feb. 8th.
Offensively, the Maccabees saw four players score in double digits. Rookie phenom
Yair Dovrat led the way with 19 points, while
Max Zakheim,
Zevi Samet, and
Dothan Bardichev tallied 15, 11, and 10 respectively.
On top of his scoring prowess, Bardichev also dominated the paint for Yeshiva, pulling down 10 rebounds to complete his first double-double of the season.
With the result, the Maccabees are now 14-8, 13-0 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Yeshiva jumped out to a fast lead, going up 11-3 through the first five minutes off stellar scoring from Zakheim, Samet, and Bardichev. This advantage would orbit eight points over the next ten minutes, maxing out at nine in the 11th minute at 17-8.
- However, still scrapping for a playoff spot, Manhattanville fought back, leveling the playing field at 20-all before taking their first lead of the game at 22-20 with 5:19 left in the period. The advantage proceeded to change hands five more times over the final five minutes, with the pendulum ultimately settling in YU's favor, giving the Macs a 33-31 edge headed into the break.
- Not satisfied with letting their lead slip, the Maccabees came out halftime with a head full of steam, taking just four minutes to push their edge into the double digits at 47-37. With the men in blue and white shooting over 60% from the floor, YU's lead ballooned over the next 10 minutes, reaching a zenith of 24 at 77-53. The Macs' second-half push proved too much for Manhattanville to contest, with Yeshiva leaving Purchase with a 79-57 conference win.
