Softball Drops Conference Home Opener, Falls to Manhattanville

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Hosting their first conference games of the season, the Yeshiva Softball Team fell to Manhattanville University, dropping a doubleheader to the Valiants by scores of 11-0 and 8-0 on Thursday, Mar. 19th.

The Maccabees were led by Eliana Kieffer, with the rookie tallying two hits across the pair of contests.

With the results, the Macs are now 0-7, 0-4 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 1 (L, 11-0)
  • The Maccabee bats struggled in the first game, not managing a hit, and placing just three runners on base.

  • YU's best chance to score came in the second inning, when Elle Ohayon reached second with two outs. Unfortunately, a strikeout from her teammate Galit Roth ended the inning, and left Ohayon stranded.

  • Manhattanville had no such struggles scoring, putting up seven in the first inning, three in the second, and one in the third.

HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 2 (L, 8-0)
  • Yeshiva found more offensive success in game two, tallying three hits. Kiefer smacked singles in both the second and fourth innings, while Amkraut was thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double in the bottom of the fifth. Unfortunately, none of these efforts were able to translate into runs.

  • YU's best chance for points came in the fourth, when the women in blue and white loaded the bases with two outs. However, a swinging strikeout from Chana Light ended the inning and left all three runners stranded.

  • The Valiants took advantage of Yeshiva's struggles, notching six runs in the first, and two in the second.
