PURCHASE, NY - Returning to conference play, the Yeshiva Baseball Team fell to Manhattanville University, dropping a doubleheader to the Valiants by scores of 11-1 and 15-5 on Sunday, Mar. 22nd.
Â
The Maccabees were led by
Jake Arnow, with the second-year standout tallying five hits, one run, and one RBI across the pair of contests.
Â
With the result, the Macs are now 0-12, 0-4 in conference play.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 1 (L, 11-1)
- Yeshiva struggled offensively, not managing a baserunner until the top of the fourth inning when Arnow tallied YU's first hit of the game with a double to left field. However, this effort did not translate into points, as despite advancing to third, Arnow was ultimately left stranded by one final looking strikeout.
Â
- The Maccabees finally scored in the top of the seventh. After getting on base with a single, Reuben Benzaquen was pinch-run for by Izzy Gober. Gober proceeded to reach third, and was ultimately brought home by a Simmy Goldberger groundout.
Â
- The Valiant had no such issues scoring, putting up five in the first, three in the second, two in the fifth, and one in the sixth.

- While both teams were held scoreless through the first three innings, the Maccabee took an assertive lead in the top of the fourth, going up 3-0 behind runs from Arnow Josh Paskoff, and Jacob Canner.
Â
- While Manhattanville tied the contest up in the bottom of the inning with three runs of their own, the Macs recaptured their advantage in the top of the fifth, up 4-3 thanks to Benzaquen stomping on home plate.
Â
- Unfortunately, Yeshiva was not able to maintain their momentum. Manhattanville took command of the contest, scoring two runs in the fifth, five in the sixth, and five in the seventh. YU managed one more run in the top of the seventh when an Arnow single brought RJ Hellman home, but the effort was too little too late, as the Macs fell, 15-5.
