HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first set proved a back-and-forth affair, with the lead changing hands four times before settling at 10-all. However, it was then that Manhattanville pulled away, going up 19-12 off a 9-2 run. YU fought back, closing within three at 20-17, but the effort fell short, as the Valiants took the period, 25-19.
- The Maccabees jumped out to an early lead in set two, going up 9-7 through the first 15 serves. That advantage would not last, as YU lost their edge to a 8-1 Manhattanville run, finding themselves in a 5-point hole at 15-10. The Macs continued to press drawing within one at 15-14, but could not usurp the hold the home team had on the game, falling by a score of 25-21.
- Manhattanville took hold of the third set early and refused to let go. The Macs proved persistent, but could not hold on, ultimately dropping the period, 25-16, and the match, 3-0.
