NEW YORK, NY - Playing in the Max Stern Athletic Center for the last time in the 2026 season, the Yeshiva Men's Volleyball team fell to The College at Old Westbury, losing to the Panthers by a score of 3-0 on Thursday, Mar. 26th.
 
Before the game, the Maccabees celebrated Senior Night, honoring their graduating seniors, Eli Waxman, Yoni Rubin, David Deutsch, Massimo Bertini, and Peter Osen.
 
YU was led by the three headed monster of Mateusz Karpow, Waxman, and Rubin, with Karpow slamming home 17 kills, Waxman serving up 20 assists, and Rubin scooping 19 digs.
 
With the result, the Macs are now 2-19, 0-13 in conference play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Maccabees struggled early in the first set, falling behind 13-1 through the first 14 serves. While kills from Waxman and Karpow pushed YU's point total into double digits, the effort was not enough to contest Old Westbury's hold on the period, as YU fell, 25-12.
   
• Unlike the first set, the second proved a deadlocked affair. Both sides matched each other nearly point-for-point, tying the score 12 different times before seeing it settle at 20-all. However, from there, the Panthers were finally able to break away, scoring the final five points to take the period, 25-20.
   
• With the Maccabees finding their rhythm, the third set was also a close one, with Yeshiva, while trailing, not allowing their conference foe more than a two point cushion. The Maccabees even managed to cut their deficit down to one late in the period, behind at 21-20. Unfortunately, Old Westbury surged at the wrong time, capturing four of the final five points to win the set, 25-21, and the match, 3-0.
