Men’s Volleyball Drops Penultimate Road Match to Sarah Lawrence

BRONXVILLE, NY - Heading out onto the road for the second-to-last time in the 2026 season, the Yeshiva Men's Volleyball Team fell to Sarah Lawrence College, losing to the Gryphons by a score of 3-1 on Thursday, Mar. 25th.

The Maccabees were led by the trio of Mateusz Karpow, Eli Waxman, and Yoni Rubin, with Karpow notching 18 kills, Waxman serving up 19 assists, and Rubin scooping 10 digs.

With the result, the Macs are now 2-18, 0-12 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Yeshiva fell behind early in set one, down 13-7 through the first 20 serves. While the Maccabees fought back behind kills from Alex Kirievsky and an ace from Ari Shklyar, an effort that drew the Macs within four points at 22-18, the push came up short, with Sarah Lawrence taking the period, 25-19.

  • While the Maccabees jumped out to a pair of early leads to kick off set two, up at both 7-4 and 12-9, the home team refused them any sustained separation, tying the game both times at 7-all and 12-all. However, after kills from Karpow and Peter Osen managed to keep Sarah Lawrence at arms length from points 13-15, a 5-0 run finally gave the Macs the breathing room they needed. Up 20-15, Yeshiva weathered the Gryphons' last ditch attempts at a comeback, ultimately taking the set by a score of 25-21.

  • At the offset, the third set proved a close affair, with both sides deadlocked at 9-all through 19 points. However, it was then that Sarah Lawrence took control, outpacing YU to the tune of a 16-8 run, securing the period win, 25-17.

  • The Maccabees fell behind early in the fourth set, seeing Sarah Lawrence jump out to a fast 18-9 lead. While YU rallied, shrinking their deficit down to just five points at 24-19, the effort came up short, as the Gryphons took the set, 25-19, and the match, 3-1.
