LYNDHURST, NJ - Taking the diamond for the first time in 2026, the Yeshiva Softball Team battled hard against Lehman College, losing to the Lightning by a score of 26-12 on Sunday, Mar. 8th.

On top of being the season opener, the game served as an important milestone for two new Maccabees, with Eliana Kiefer and
Shira Pfeiffer suiting up for the first time.

The Macs were led by the duo of Eliza Feldman and
Zahava Moskowitz. The second-year players excelled in the batter's box, with Feldman putting up three hits and four RBIs, while Moskowitz tallied three runs, one hit, and one RBI.

Totaling 12 runs on the afternoon, Yeshiva set a new program record for runs against Lehman, beating out the previous mark of 10 set back in March of 2016.

With the result, the Macs are now 0-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Despite falling behind early on, trailing 6-0 after the first one and a half innings, the Macs got on the board in the bottom of the second. After reaching on a walk and advancing to second on a wild pitch, Pfeiffer came home when Aliza Feldman singled to center field, closing YU's deficit to 6-1.

- Yeshiva's offense continued to hum throughout the game. The Maccabees saw seven different players round the bases, tallying three runs in the third, three in the fourth, and five in the fifth.

- Unfortunately, YU's effort was not enough to match Lehman's production. The Lightning built on their initial six runs, banging home 11 in the third, two in the fourth, and 7 in the fifth for a total of 26.

- With one final strikeout in the bottom of the fifth, the Maccabees fell, 26-12, opening their season with a valiant effort.
