FARMINGDALE, NY - Kicking off a three-game road stretch, the Maccabees traveled out to Farmingdale State University, losing to the Rams by scores of 20-6 and 20-2 on Thursday, Apr. 23rd.
Â
In game one, the Maccabees were led by
Simmy Goldberger, with the lead-off hitter tallying three hits and two runs. In game two, YU saw stellar play out of
Jake Arnow, with the Edison native also notching three hits and two runs of his own.
Â
With the result, the Macs are now 2-22, 1-13 in conference play.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 1 (L, 20-6)
- Yeshiva drew first blood to kick off game one. Goldberger, Arnow and Reuben Benzaquen all scored in the top of the first inning, giving YU an early 3-0 lead.
Â
- While Farmingdale responded with five runs of their own in the bottom of the inning, the Macs stood undeterred. With both Arnow and Goldberger on base, Benzaquen blasted a double to center field on a full count, bringing both of his teammates home to level the contest at 5-all.
Â
- Unfortunately, Yeshiva's offense would go quiet, allowing Farmingdale to pull away. The Rams tallied four runs in the second, three in the fourth, and eight in the sixth. While the Macs managed one more score when Noah Steinmetz scored on a wild pitch, the effort was not enough to bring YU back, as the Macs fell, 20-6.

Â
- However, Farmingdale quickly responded, scoring three times in the bottom of the inning before tallying 15 in the bottom of the second. The Rams went on to score twice more, once in the fourth, and once in the sixth.
Â
