PATCHOGUE, NY - Taking the field mid-holidays, the Yeshiva Men's Soccer Team tied St. Joseph's University Long Island, drawing even with the Golden Eagles at a score of 1-1 on Wednesday, Sep. 16th.
The Maccabees' goal came off the right foot of
Franco Busso, with the senior captain finding paydirt for YU early in the contest.
With the result, the Macs are now 2-1-2, 0-1-2 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Yeshiva opened the scoring just seconds after kickoff, with Busso notching his goal in the second minute of play. Taking advantage of an overconfident SJLI defender, the Argentinian stole the ball deep in Golden Eagle territory, setting up a one-on-one with the keeper, who he slammed the ball past.
- YU's 1-0 lead would last until the 44th minute, when SJLI tied the game at 1-all, a scoreline that would hold through the rest of the contest.
- The Maccabee defense shone in the second half, staving off 10 shots and eight corners from the home team.
- The Macs were not without their chances offensively, with Ivan Zirlinger managing a shot on goal, yet the men in blue could not capitalize. When the final horn sounded, the score stood at 1-all.
