PURCHASE, NY - Playing host to a conference foe for the first time this season, the Yeshiva Men's Soccer Team fell to Sarah Lawrence College, losing to the Gryphons by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday, Sep. 23rd.
The Maccabees' lone goal came from
Joaquin Merajver, with the junior finding paydirt off an assist from captain
Hadar Lavinsky
With the result, the Macs are now 1-2-2, 0-2-2 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Yeshiva opened the scoring in the 16th minute. Capitalizing on a beautiful cross off a corner from Lavinsky, Merajver came screaming into the box, slamming the ball into the back of the net with his right foot to put YU up 1-0.
- Sarah Lawrence responded 15 minutes later, leveling the score at 1-1 in the 37th minute. This scoreline would hold into the half.
- The Gryphons grew their lead 20 minutes into the second half, going up 2-1 in the 65th minute.
- The Maccabees were not without the chances to respond, leveling nine shots at the Sarah Lawrence keeper throughout the second half. However, the effort was not enough, as when the final horn sounded, YU fell, 2-1.
