COBBLESKILL, NY - Scoring their second consecutive victory, the Yeshiva Men's Soccer Team took down SUNY-Cobleskill, defeating the Fighting Tigers by a score of 4-2 on Sunday, Sep. 6th.
Yeshiva was led by
Franco Busso, with the Maccabee captain capping a monster first week of the season with another pair of goals, bookending the scoring for YU in their non-conference win.
With the result, the Macs improve to 2-0-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Maccabees fell behind early, with Cobleskill finding the back of the net in just the 12th minute.
- Yeshiva responded 15 minutes later. Both of YU's captains linked up for a beautiful score, with Hadar Lavinsky sending a cutback to the feet of Busso, allowing the Argentinian easy access to the Fighting Tigers' net.
- The 1-1 deadlock would not last however. SUNY Cobleskill snuck another shot past YU's keeper, Nicolas Galer, putting YU in a 1-goal hole at 2-1 in the 39th minute. This scoreline would hold through the half.
- The Maccabees dominated the second half, outshooting the Fighting Tigers 9-5, and securing three corner kicks to their two. This offensive advantage resulted in a barrage of goals, with Uri Aron scoring in the 57th minute, Asher Light scoring in the 78th, and Busso once again finding paydirt in the 79th. With SUNY Cobleskill being held scoreless through the final 45 minutes, Yeshiva cruised to a 4-2 victory.
