Women's Tennis Drops Crucial Skyline Game to Purchase

Kimmel improved to 5-1 in singles play

NEW YORK, NY – The Yeshiva women's tennis team returned to action last night against Purchase College, after the holiday break of nearly an entire month   Needing a win to stay in the race for the Skyline Championship's final spot, the Maccabees couldn't overcome Purchase, falling 1-8 in Purchase, NY.  The loss drops Yeshiva to 2-5 in Skyline play, one game out of 6th  However, a win in the final Skyline competition will leave the Maccabees tied for the final spot, but Farmingdale holds the tiebreaker from early in the season. place.

 

Yeshiva's win came in first singles play, with Stephanie Kimmel defeating her opponent 10-1.  With the singles victory, Stephanie improved to 5-1 overall on the season and 4-1 overall when playing in the first spot.  She played next to Ariella Kaplan in third doubles, but fell 8-2.

 

Esti Reichman was paired with Estee Wertenheil in first doubles, but the two couldn't overcome Purchase's team, falling 8-2.  Esther Shechtman played alongside Leah Michels in the second doubles spot, but the two dropped their match 8-1.

 

The final game of the first half of the season will be played on Sunday the 18th at undefeated Mount Saint Mary College, in Newburgh, NY.  The game is scheduled to begin at 1:00PM.  The second half of the season starts up in March.
