Women’s Basketball Drops Skyline Matchup with Undefeated Farmingdale

NEW YORK, NY – The women's basketball team fell to the Skyline Conference's top team last night, by a final score of 98-49. Farmingdale remained unbeaten at 6-0 (3-0) while Yeshiva fell to 2-8 (0-6).

Leading the way for the Macs was Avigail Varnai with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Jaclyn Ramras recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. Lauren Kempin ended the game with 11 points and 3 blocked shots.

The Macs found themselves down quickly 11-0, before Yeshiva called a timeout three minutes into the game. Followed the timeout, Yeshiva got on the board with a free throw, but continued their struggles. Down 24 with just over 13 minutes to play, Yeshiva went on an 8-0 run to cut the lead to 16. The Rams closed the half with a 19-7 run for the 46-18 advantage.

The second half was much better for Yeshiva, as they increased their field goal percentage by more than 10%, while also shooting 45.5% from behind the arc. The Rams were just too much for the Macs though, as they were able to pull down 31 offensive rebounds for the game en-route to the win. Those 31 offensive rebounds accounted for more than half of their total for the game (60).

This game was the teams' only contest this week. They will be on the court again Monday evening, traveling to Mount Saint Mary for a 7:30PM game.
