NEW YORK, NY – The women's basketball team hosted Mount Saint Vincent last night at the High School for Girls, but fell 102-66. The loss leaves the Maccabees at 1-5 (0-4), while Mount Saint Vincent improved to 3-1 (1-0).
Jaclyn Ramras led the team with 20 points, 15 of which came in the second half. Both Avigail Varnai and Shir Fuchs chipped in with 14 for the game. Lauren Kempin had 5 blocks, to go along with her 6 points and 8 rebounds.
For Mount Saint Vincent, Jen Mocanu had a team high 24 points, followed by Ashley Ruiz with 15 and Karissa Koerner with 13.
The Maccabees fell behind quickly, trailing 15-0 through the first 3 minutes. After a timeout, Avigail Varnai got the Macs on the board with the first of her two three pointers, and followed on the next possession with her second. That 9 point deficit would be the closest Yeshiva would be able to get for the rest of the game.
The Maccabees are traveling to Old Westbury on Thursday for an 8PM Skyline contest. Yeshiva will then participate in the Medgar Evers Tournament this weekend, playing the host in the opening round on Saturday at 8PM.
