(Bronx, NY) – Sophomore Simon Brookim (Brentwood, CA/Valley Torah) scored a team-high 20 points and junior Martin Leibovich (Buenos Aires, Argentina/ORT II) added 10 points, but the Yeshiva University Men's Basketball team lost its fifth straight game, 67-46 to Maritime on Saturday night at Maritime. With the loss, Yeshiva is now 6-13 overall and 4-10 in Skyline Conference play.
After Yeshiva scored the game's first seven points, Maritime quickly turned things around, scoring 11 straight points to take the lead for good. The first half was a battle as the Privateers never led by more than eight points and led 32-25 at halftime.
A 13-2 run opened the second half for Maritime, extending the Privateer lead to 45-27 with 10:10 remaining in the game. Yeshiva would get as close as 14 points, but Maritime scored the game's final seven points fr the 21-point win.
Brookim was outstanding as he shot 8 for 13 from the floor, and Leibovich broke double digits for the 16th time this season.
Overall, Yeshiva was outrebounded 30-22 and 24 Maccabee turnovers were a huge factor in the loss.
Yeshiva returns to action on Thursday, Feb. 12 when they travel to Mount Saint Vincent for an 8:00 p.m. start.
