(Edgewater, NJ) - Junior Harry Auster (Baltimore, MD/Beth Tifiloh) notched wins at both #5 singles and #3 doubles, and junior Joseph Itkis (Newton, MA/Maimonides) and sophomore Seth Nayowitz (Teaneck, NJ/TABC) turned in terrific performances in singles play, but the Yeshiva University Men's Tennis team lost its second consecutive match, 7-2 to Farmingdale State on Sunday afternoon at Farmingdale State. With the loss, Yeshiva is now 0-2 overall and 0-1 in Skyline Conference play.
Farmingdale State took two of the three doubles matches as the team of Zack Charles (New York, NY/Ramaz) and Nayowitz were terrific during the #1 singles match, losing 9-7. While that was happening, the #2 doubles team of Itkis and Benji Rosenberg (Vienna, Austria/ZPC) fell 8-5 in another closely contested match. YU finally scored a win when Auster and Max Klein (Woodmere, NY/HAFTR) scored an 8-4 victory for Yeshiva's first doubles win of the season.
Singles play saw Farmingdale win five out of six matches with Auster scoring an impressive 6-3, 7-6 win at #5 singles. Also for Yeshiva, Itkis fell 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 at #3 singles and Nayowitz was defeated 2-6, 6-4, 4-6 and #6 singles.
Yeshiva returns to action on Tuesday, March 17 when the Maccabees host CCNY for an 8:00 p.m. non-conference match at the Binghamton Racquet Club in Edgewater, NJ.
