(Purchase, NY) - Junior Libby Lapson (Chicago, IL/ICJA) scored 11 points and added seven rebounds and four steals during another outstanding performance, and senior Tova Laufer (New York, NY/Ramaz) added seven points, seven rebounds, and four steals, but the Yeshiva University Women's Basketball team lost its third straight game, 89-46 to Purchase College on Tuesday night at Purchase College. With the loss, YU is now 1-4 overall and 0-4 in Skyline Conference play.
A Daniella Barber (Seattle, WA/Northwest Yeshiva) lay-up with 14:09 remaining in the first half brought Yeshiva within three points of the host Panthers, 13-10, but from there Purchase College went on a 16-3 run to make it 29-13 with 7:10 to play in the half. Purchase led 40-20 at halftime.
The second half saw much of the same as Purchase went on several runs to extend the lead to more than 40 as Purchase outscored YU 51-26 during the final 20 minutes.
Lapson was outstanding for Yeshiva as she continues to display tremendous improvement, and Laufer was terrific in her first game back after missing two straight games. Also for Yeshiva, Barber scored seven points and had nine rebounds.
Overall, Purchase shot 36% from the floor, compared to Yeshiva's 28%, and the Panthers outrebounded YU 55-53.
Yeshiva returns to action on Thursday, Dec. 4 when the Maccabees travel to face 2008 Skyline Conference Semifinalist Mount Saint Vincent at 6:00 p.m.
