(New York, NY) - Junior Lauren Kempin (Fairlawn, NJ/Frisch) scored a team-high 11 points and added seven rebounds and three blocked shots, and fellow junior Libby Lapson (Chicago, IL/ICJA) added 10 points, but the Yeshiva University Women's Basketball team lost its sixth straight game, 88-45 to SUNY Old Wesbury on Thursday night at Baruch College. With the loss, YU is now 1-7 overall and 0-6 in Skyline Conference play.
Things looked good for the Maccabees after a Lapson jump-shot brought Yeshiva to within 7-6 just over three minutes into the game, but from there, Old Westbury went on a 19-2 run to blow the game wide open. The Panthers rallied again late in the first half to take a 42-16 lead into halftime.
The second half saw much of the same as Old Westbury remained in a full-court press despite the lop-sided score for much of the stanza, and extended their lead to more than 40.
Yeshiva was actually the better shooting team during the second half of play, hitting 39% of their shots, while Old Westbury hit 35%. However, the Maccabees were outrebounded 79-41, accounting for much of the difference during the game.
Yeshiva returns to action on Sunday afternoon when the Maccabees travel to St. Joseph's (LI) for a 2:00 p.m. Skyline Conference game.
