Maccabees fall to St. Joseph's (LI) in Women's Basketball

(Patchogue, NY) - Junior Lauren Kempin (Fairlawn, NJ/Frisch) notched her second double-double of the 2008-09 season, scoring a season-high 15 points and adding 13 rebounds, and junior Jaclyn Ramras (Woodmere, NY/SKA) added seven points and six rebounds, but the Yeshiva University Women's Basketball team lost its seventh straight game, 67-34 to St. Joseph's (LI) on Sunday afternoon at St. Joseph's. With the loss, YU is now 1-8 overall and 0-7 in Skyline Conference play.

St. Joseph's jumped out from the start, outscoring Yeshiva 22-3 during the first nine minutes to take control of the game. Kempin, Ramras, and Libby Lapson (Chicago, IL/ICJA) scored consecutive baskets to make things a bit closer, and a Kempin three-pointer made it 26-12 with 4:31 remaining in the first half, but a 10-2 St. Joseph's run ended the first half with the Golden Eagles leading 36-14.

A 13-2 run early in the second half all but put the game away as St. Joseph's shot 42% for the game, compared to Yeshiva's 29%, and the Golden Eagles forced 27 YU turnovers while committing only 14.

Yeshiva returns to action on Thursday, Dec. 18 when they host Farmingdale State for an 8:00 p.m. Skyline Conference game.
