(Farmingdale, NY) - Senior Tova Laufer (New York, NY/Ramaz) scored eight points and added four rebounds and five steals, and sophomore Shir Fuchs (Herzeliya, Israel/Hayovel) chipped in a team-high nine points, but the Yeshiva University Women's Basketball team was defeated 70-35 by Skyline Conference powerhouse Farmingdale State on Monday night at Farmingdale State. With the loss, Yeshiva is now 3-20 overall and 0-16 in Skyline Conference play.
Yeshiva battled Farmingdale early as a Libby Lapson (Chicago, IL/ICJA) jumper with 12:16 to play in the first half pulled Yeshiva within 17-10, but from there, Farmingdale went on a 12-1 run to take an 18-point lead, and an 11-1 run to close the half gave the Rams a 40-17 edge at the break.
The second half saw much of the same as an early 16-2 run for Farmingdale all but put the game away.
Overall, Farmingdale State shot 41% while Yeshiva shot 27% from the floor, and the Rams held a commanding 51-29 rebounding edge.
Yeshiva returns home on Thursday night for their final home game of the 2008-09 season, an 8:00 p.m. tip-off with Mount Saint Mary.
