(New York, NY) - Sophomore Shir Fuchs (Herzeliya, Israel/Hayovel) scored a team-high 10 points and added four rebounds, and senior Tova Laufer (New York, NY/Ramaz) had a fine all-around game with rebounds and six assists, the Yeshiva University Women's Basketball team was defeated 83-33 by the College of Saint Elizabeth on Thursday night at Saint Elizabeth. With the loss, Yeshiva is now 2-14 overall and 1-3 in Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) play.
Yeshiva trailed 49-16 at halftime as CSE, the first-place team in the HVWAC started the game by outscoring YU 49-16 during the first 20 minutes. Yeshiva battled back as the game went along, but the Maccabees were outscored 34-17 during the second half for the 83-33 final. Yeshiva was out-shot 56%-31% during the game, and outrebounded 33-29.
Fuchs was outstanding, breaking double-digits for the third time this season, while Laufer was a force inside and did an admirable job running the Yeshiva offense. Also for YU, sophomore Renee Ashkinazi (Deal, NJ/Hillel Yeshiva) had a solid game with seven points and five rebounds.
Yeshiva returns to action on Sunday afternoon when they host St. Joseph's (LI) for a 1:00 p.m. Skyline Conference game.
