(Edgewater, NJ) -Senior Gabrielle Hess (New York, NY/Ramaz) and sophomore Danielle Weitzman (Woodmere, NY/SKA) turned in a spectacular performance at #1 singles, pushing perhaps the finest doubles team in the Skyline Conference to the limit before falling 8-4 as the Yeshiva University Women's Tennis team lost its third straight match, 9-0 to defending Skyline Conference Champion Mount Saint Mary on Wednesday night at the Binghamton Racquet Club in Edgewater, New Jersey. With the loss, Yeshiva is now 2-3 overall and 2-3 in Skyline Conference play.
Hess and Weitzman were terrific in #1 doubles, competing in a marathon match that saw Mount Saint Mary rally down the stretch to gain the win. The match proved to be one of only a few highlights for YU as the Maccabees fell 8-0 and 8-0 in #2 and #3 doubles, respectively.
Singles play proved to be even more difficult for Yeshiva as Mount Saint Mary swept all six matches, with the lone highlight for Yeshiva was a terrific effort by junior Leah Michels (Milwaukee, WI/Torah Academy of Milwaukee) in #4 singles, where she ultimately lost 6-3, 6-0.
Yeshiva returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 21 when the Maccabees travel to Bard College for a 2:00 p.m. Skyline Conference match.
