NEW YORK, NY – The men's soccer team hosted Maritime College Tuesday night at Silver Lake Park in a Skyline Conference matchup, and the Privateers came out with a 6-2 victory. The loss dropped Yeshiva to 0-5-1 (0-3-1) while Maritime improved to 9-6 (5-2).
Maritime scored only 6 minutes into the game and took a commanding 4-0 lead at halftime after scoring two of those goals in the final 5 minutes of the half. The Maccabees were held to 3 shots on goal in the half and 5 total attempts.
Zachary Stern got the first score for either team in the second stanza, after a penalty in the box awarded him the free shot on goal. The score was his third of the season and 7th point overall. He would later assist on Yeshiva's second goal giving him a team-leading 8th point.
Jeremy Seftel scored the second goal for the Macs in the 77th minute off a rebound in front of the goal. The Privateers scored once after each of Yeshiva's goals to make the final 6-2.
Mark Rocklin played all 90 minutes in goal for Yeshiva, making 7 saves.
Barak Zigdon recorded 3 shots on goal, while the team totaled 6 for the game.
The Maccabees will be hosting Old Westbury on Thursday at 8PM, once again at Silver Lake Park in West Harrison, NY.
