NEW YORK, NY – The men's basketball team was on the road at Old Westbury Tuesday night, playing in their 3rd conference game in 6 contests this season. Yeshiva managed only 9 makes on 34 attempts from behind the arc, more than half of the teams' shot attempts in the game. The 88-77 loss dropped Yeshiva to 1-5 (1-2). Old Westbury improved to 1-1 (1-0).
Off the bench,
Dovie Hoffman had a game high 24 points on 8-14 shooting. In only 20 minutes played, he nearly recorded a double-double, falling one rebound short (9 total).
Chen Biron had his best performance of the season so far, scoring 16 points.
Omer Haim scored 11 while dishing out 7 assists.
Yoni Eckmann added 9 in his second straight start of the year.
The Maccabees opened the game with a 5-3 advantage, but would be unable to extend the lead and found themselves down 14 at the half. The Macs were within 5 with 2:06 to play, but the Panthers capitalized on two Yeshiva misses from downtown by making three of their own to close the half with a 9-0 run.
The Panthers pushed their lead to as much as 16 within minutes of starting the second half, and Yeshiva played with a double digit deficit for nearly the remainder of the game. The Macs were able to pull within 8 at the 10:35 mark but would get no closer.
Yeshiva will be hosting Farmingdale State on Thursday in another Skyline competition. The game is scheduled for an 8PM tipoff.
