NEW YORK, NY - The Yeshiva Lady Macs (1-8, 0-6 Skyline) made several runs against the ladies from Sage College (4-4, 3-2 Skyline) Thursday night, but lost a tough one 63-42.
Yeshiva had to climb an uphill battle all game as Sage set the tone from the tip, jumping out to a 15-2 lead in the first seven minutes of the game. The Lady Macs fought back though, as seniors
Lauren Kempin and
Shir Fuchs took over. The two combined for nine of the next fourteen points to cut the Sage lead to 16-23. The passing and inside play of Sage proved to be too much as they pulled away to end the half with a 35-22 lead.
Sage started the second half similar to the first as Jessica Byerwalter hit two straight baskets to increase the lead 46-26 with fourteen minutes to play. Yeshiva fought hard to cut into the lead but Sage proved to be too much, winning 63-42.
Fuchs and Kempin led Yeshiva in scoring with 10 points each and senior
Avigail Varnai added 8 points and 8 rebounds. Sage's Byerwalter led all scorers with 14 points.
The Lady Maccabees next game will be Sunday against Farmingdale State at 1PM in Farmingdale, NY
