NEW YORK, NY - The Yeshiva Maccabees (1-11, 0-9) lost to Skyline conference foe Mount Saint Vincent (2-6, 1-4) Thursday night, 84-44. The Lady Macs struggled with the MSV press all night, and were unable control the paint despite four blocks and seven rebounds from
Lauren Kempin.
The first half started rough for the Lady Macs as they could not break the press of MSV. Yeshiva turned the ball over 11 times in the first seven minutes of the game and found themselves quickly down 16-2. Free throw shooting and strong play from Senior
Lauren Kempin kept Yeshiva within striking distance as the Lady Macs shot a perfect 10 for 10, including 8 for 8 from Kempin. Yeshiva was unable to get closer than 12 though, as the MSV press eventually caused 25 first half turnovers.
The second half had the same feel as the first, as the MSV defense proved too strong. The Lady Macs could only muster 19 second half points, and lost 84-44. The outcome did not turn out the way the Macs hoped but Yeshiva saw strong play again from freshmen
Haley David. David shot 7-12 from the field totaling 15 points and 5 rebounds, her fifth double-digit effort on the season. Skyline conference block leader
Lauren Kempin recorded 4 more blocks to increase her total to 36 on the season, and ended the game with 14 points and seven rebounds.
The Lady Macs are back in action Sunday afternoon as they play Mount Saint Mary in a Skyline conference match-up. The game will be played at Baruch College at 1 PM.
