NEW YORK, NY – The women's tennis team defeated New Rochelle 8-1 to pick up the first win in their spring portion of the season. The win is also the first for new coach
Naomi Kaszovitz, who joined Yeshiva before the season began. Overall, the Macs are 3-6 during the 2009-10 season.
The day's only loss came in first doubles, where
Stephanie Kimmel and
Melissa Kessel fell 6-8. 2nd doubles players
Estee Wertenheil and
Esti Reichman won their match 8-2 and the 3rd doubles team of
Leah Michels and
Shara Feltheimer blanked their opponents 8-0.
Singles play went much better for Yeshiva, as they swept the 6 matches in quick fashion. Kimmel and Michels each won their singles matches (1st and 5th) 6-0, 6-1, while Esther Schechtman took care of her opponent in 4th doubles 6-1, 6-0.
Ariella Kaplan won her 6th singles match easily 6-0, 6-2. Reichman's 2nd singles match went a little further at 6-2, 6-3 and third singles player
Estee Wertenheil won 6-4, 7-5.
