NEW YORK, NY – The men's tennis team won their third conference match of the season, securing the 5th seed in the upcoming Skyline Conference Tournament. The 9-0 win over Bard College on Sunday moved the Maccabees up to 5-5 (3-4) on the season. Their Quarterfinal game will be at Purchase on Tuesday evening, beginning at 7PM.
In singles play, Yeshiva made quick work of their opponent, with nobody giving up more than 3 games in their match.
Zach Charles won 1st singles 6-3, 6-2, followed by
Joseph Itkis with a 6-1, 6-2 second singles win.
Sam Klein won his third singles match 6-2, 6-0 and
Seth Nayowitz won 4th singles 6-1, 6-3.
Adam Weiss won 6-1, 6-0, while
Ephraim Leiderman rounded out the singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 victory.
Charles and Itkis won 1st singles easily, 8-2. Klein and Nayowitz teamed up for an 8-3 win, and Leiderman and
Eddie Ashkenazie won third doubles 8-4.
The Macs will travel to Purchase for the Quarterfinals on Tuesday at 7PM. Earlier this season, the Macs traveled there for a game and fell 5-4. During that game, Yeshiva dropped all three doubles matches, but made it close by winning 4 of the 6 singles matches.
