NEW YORK, NY – The women's tennis team dropped their season opener Thursday evening to the visiting Knights of Mount Saint Mary 9-0. The game was also the first of the season for the Knights, and the first contest amongst the Skyline schools. The Maccabees will not have another game until October 5th against Purchase.
Mount Saint Mary came out strong, winning first doubles 8-1, second doubles 8-3, and third doubles 8-1. Yeshiva's
Stephanie Danoff and
Esti Reichman teamed up in first doubles,
Esther Shechtman and
Shara Feltheimer played second, and
Hanna Tessler partnered with
Danielle Brinn in third doubles.
In singles play, Danoff dropped first singles 0-6, 0-6, while Feltheimer was also blanked in second singles.
Esti Reichman played in the third slot, falling 2-6, 3-6.
Hanna Tessler played fourth singles to a 5-7, 0-6 loss, followed by
Esther Shechtman with a 1-6, 1-6 loss.
Jenny Goldstein rounded out the singles players, falling 1-6, 0-6.
The Maccabees will not take the court again until October 5th when they host Purchase College at 8PM.
