Yeshiva’s Struggles Continue as the Macs Lose their Sixth Straight to Skyline Conference Foe SUNY Maritime

New York, NY- The Yeshiva Maccabee's (2-13, 2-9 Skyline) finally got a chance to play at home in over a month as they took on Skyline conference opponent SUNY Maritime (8-9, 6-6 Skyline) Saturday night. The Macs played inspired for their crowd but unfortunately could not rally in the second half and lost a hard fought game 89-77.

Yeshiva started the game off slow as four turnovers in the first three minutes helped Maritime jump out to a 10-2 lead. Yeshiva settled down though and started to go to work on the offensive glass, led by Dovie Hoffman who pulled down three offensive rebounds and scored 10 points in the first half. Hoffman's offensive rebound and put back with 5 minutes left in the first half gave Yeshiva a 27-24 lead. Omer Haim and Chen Biron took over from there as the two went 5-8 from the three point arch in the first half and led Yeshiva into halftime tied at 42.

Yeshiva found themselves in an uphill battle again to start the second half, as Maritime's Mike McSloy and Paul Suarino hit back to back three pointers to give Maritime a 48-44 lead. Yeshiva continued to play tough as an offensive rebound would lead to a jumper by Gil Bash and bring Yeshiva within two with 16 minutes left in the game. Foul trouble hurt Yeshiva for the rest of the second half as the top two leading scorers for Yeshiva this season, Chen Biron and Dovie Hoffman, would see limited time, allowing Maritime to jump to a 70-59 lead with 7 minutes left in the game. Yeshiva fought hard to erase the Maritime lead but would fall short and lose 89-77.

Hoffman led Yeshiva with 20 points and 8 rebounds while Bash and Haim each put up 15 points. Yeshiva is back in action Monday night as they host Skyline conference foe Mount Saint Vincent at 8 PM.
