NEW YORK, NY – The men's fencing team was one of 7 schools that partook in the Vassar College Invitational on Sunday.  The Macs posted a 1-5 record against their 6 opponents, with the win coming over Hunter College 23-4.
 
Hillel Kaye had a strong performance at Epee, finishing the day with a 13-2 record.  
Yitzchok Frankel finished 11-7 in his Sabre bouts.
 
Round 1:  Vassar 19, Yeshiva 8
The Maccabees were shutout 9-0 in foil, but came close to taking epee and sabre, eventually falling 5-4 in each weapon.  Frankel was 2-1 against Vassar, as was Kevi Geller.  
Hillel Kaye took all three epee bouts, with 
Jared Anstandig adding the 4
th victory.
Round2:  Stevens 19, Yeshiva 8
Yitzchak Frankel got Yeshiva's only win in sabre, while the foil squad took 3 bouts.  
Brian Goodman, 
Ariel Baruch, and 
Jacob Chevlen each had a victory.  Kaye once again took all 3 of his bouts, while 
Alan Leidner added a victory in epee.
Round 3: Yeshiva 23, Hunter 4
The Maccabees had a 6-3 edge in sabre, blanked Hunter in foil, and lost only 1 in epee.  Frankel won all three bouts, while Geller won twice.  
Isaac Dayan got the sabre squads 6
th victory.  Goodman, Baruch and Chevlen won all three foil bouts, while 
Jared Anstandig and 
Kyle Lonn won all three in epee.
Round 4: Sacred Heart 23, Yeshiva 4
Hillel Kaye took 2 of 3 bouts for the epee team that was a victory shy of winning (5-4).  Frankel and Geller each had a win in sabre, while foil was blanked 9-0.
Round 5: West Point 17, Yeshiva 10
A pair of 5-4 decisions in sabre and epee and a 7-2 decision at foil gave WP the victory.  Frankel and Geller once again won twice, while Kaye won all three at epee.  Goodman and Chevlen each won once in foil.
Round 6: Haverford 17, Yeshiva 10
The epee squad pulled out a 5-4 victory behind 2 wins from Kaye and Anstandig, with the 5
th coming from Leidner.  Sabre fell 4-5 and foil dropped their match 9-0.
The Macs will be traveling to NJIT for the MACFA Round Robin this Sunday.  Competition will begin at 10AM.
