After a seesaw battle in the opening minutes of the game, Hunter took control and opened up a 12 point lead with less than 10 minutes to play in the first half. The Macs played determined to cut that lead before the half and went on a 19-5 run to take a 4 point edge into the break. 7 of those 19 points came from the charity stripe, effectively slowing down the Hawks and taking away their momentum.
Yeshiva came out and immediately doubled their lead, but Hunter fought back to regain the lead with 13:29 to play. The ensuing 13 minutes featured 4 lead changes and 4 ties as neither team proved able to take more than a brief 4 point lead.
Gil Bash put the Macs up 4 with a jumper at the 5:36 mark, and then hit a free throw 2 minutes later to give Yeshiva a 3 point edge. After Hunter tied the game,
Omer Haim connected on a floater in the paint to give Yeshiva a 63-61 edge with under two minutes to play.
Hunter tied the game only 17 seconds later but Haim missed a three pointer on Yeshiva's next possession putting the ball back in the Hawks' hands. Just when it looked as if Hunter was going to score, the Hawks were called for an offensive foul with 40 seconds remaining, giving the ball back to the Macs with the game still tied. After a missed shot by
Chen Biron, Yeshiva was whistled for touch foul sending Hunter's Joel Cerda to the line with 6 seconds showing. He calmly hit both and Yeshiva missed a last second attempt, sending the Hawks to a 65-63 victory.
Yeshiva starts conference play next week, traveling to Purchase College on the 29
