NEW YORK, NY – The men's fencing team hosted Hunter College and Stony Brook on Sunday, and came out victorious in both matches. The Macs defeated Hunter 22-5 and then Stony Brook 16-11. These were the Macs' third and fourth win of the season.
Yeshiva 22, Hunter 5 – The sabre squad won 6-3 behind three wins from
Yitzchok Frankel and two from
Kevin Geller.
Daniel Levine earned the other victory for the squad. With 3 wins from
Ariel Baruch and
Brian Goodman, the foil squad won 8-1.
Jacob Chevlen won both matches he fenced. The epee squad's 8-1 victory came behind three wins from
Jared Anstandig and
Hillel Kaye.
Alan Leidner earned the other two wins.
Yeshiva 16, Stony Brook 11 – Sabre won 6-3, with Frankel, Geller and
Zachary Fink winning 2 each. Stony Brook's foil squad defeated Yeshiva 7-2, as
Brian Goodman and
Ariel Baruch were the only fencers to get a victory. With only 3 epee competitors, Stony Brook managed only 1 win, giving Yeshiva the 8-1 victory and 16-11 overall win.
This was the final matches before the long break. The team will be returning to action on January 29
th, when they take part in the MACFA round robin at SIT.
