Women’s Basketball Drops Both at Medgar Evers Tournament

NEW YORK, NY – The women's basketball team was at the 13th annual Betty Shabazz tournament hosted by Medgar Evers this past weekend, taking on Berkeley in the opening round.  The Macs fell 80-51 and then faced Medgar Evers in the consolation game.  They lost that game 76-50, dropping to 1-3 overall.
 
In the opening game against Berkeley, Yeshiva Rebecca Yoshor scored 21 points and pulled down 17 rebounds to lead the team.  Daniella Litwin added 16 points and 7 boards.  Although both teams shot 33% from the field and 67% from the free throw line, the difference in the game was Berkeley's 33 offensive rebounds.  Neither team hit a three pointer in the game (combined 0-15).
 
In the consolation game against Medgar Evers, Yoshor led the team again with 18 points.  Haley David scored 17 and pulled down 13 rebounds for her second double double of the season.  Yeshiva was limited to 21-82 shooting and 3-19 from long range.  They made it to the free throw line only 11 times, connecting on 5.  The win for Medgar Evers was their first of the season.
 
The team's next game is Wednesday on the road at Connecticut College beginning at 8PM.
