NEW YORK, NY – The Yeshiva Maccabees hosted Bard College in the season's final game Monday night, and defeated the Raptors easily, 86-61. Before the game, three seniors were honored;
Jeremy Pressman,
Simon Brookim, and
Daniel Somech. Yeshiva's season ended with a 7-18 overall record.
Simon Brookim finished the game with a perfect 6-6 shooting effort from the field and 13 total points. He also pulled down 7 rebounds and blocked 2 shots.
Gil Bash tallied 25 and
Shlomo Weissberg had 13 points and 11 rebounds off the bench.
Omer Haim dished out 10 assists, his 5th double digit assist game of the season.
The Macs led most of the game, although they found themselves down by 7 midway through the first half. Yeshiva closed the half with a 21-8 run to give themselves a 6 point halftime edge.
Yeshiva cruised through the second half, building a 10 point lead at the 12:52 mark and never letting the game get closer. The largest lead for Yeshiva was 26 with 13 seconds to go.
Jeremy Pressman was the team's captain for the past two seasons. For his career, he has played in 96 games, starting 64. He has 339 career points, 139 assists, and shoots over 52% from the field. Pressman has logged almost 1700 minutes in his 4 seasons at YU.
Simon Brookim has been at Yeshiva for three seasons, playing in 43 games and scoring 490 points (11.4/g). He averages 22.7 minutes per game and shoots 58% from the field. This season is his best, shooting 36-47 or 76.6%. He's had 196 rebounds, 37 steals, and 33 blocked shots.
Daniel Somech has played 4 seasons at YU, appearing in 89 games and scoring 233 points. He's always been a three point threat, shooting over 30%. He's recorded 38 assists and 30 steals.
