Men’s Soccer Falls in Season Opener at Maritime 5-2

NEW YORK, NY – The men's soccer team opened their 2011 campaign on Monday, with a game at Skyline opponent Maritime College.  The Maccabees fell 5-2.  This was Maritime's third game, and their record stands at 2-1 overall.

After giving up a goal at the 7:12 mark, the Maccabees wasted no time in evening the game, scoring their first goal less than 30 seconds later.  After a shot on goal came off the goalies hands, Mikey Holder scored his first goal at Yeshiva by putting that rebound into the back of the net.  Maritime scored three more before Yeshiva's David Roumani scored off a pass from Holder.  The teams went into the break with Maritime ahead 4-2.

Yeshiva's defense limited Maritime to only 2 shots on goal in the second half, although one got past Adrian Gucouschi for the only score in the half.  Gucouschi played all 90 minutes for the Maccabees, stopping 10 shots.  The Maccabees forced Maritime offsides 9 times.

Yeshiva is back in action on Thursday for another Skyline contest with Farmingdale.  The game is being played at Purchase College and is set to begin at 4PM.
