ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - A trio of newcomers shined Wednesday night for the Yeshiva University men's tennis team, as the Maccabees dropped a 7-2 decision to host Bard College in a non-conference season opener for both programs.
Junior Akiva Katz (Boston, Mass.) won for YU at the No. 6 singles flight, defeating Bard's Tom Delaney by a 6-3, 6-love count. Also, sophomore Shai Berman (Teaneck, N.J.) teamed with freshman Charles Saka (Deal, N.J.) at the No. 3 doubles flight to knock off David Ball and Delaney, 8-5.
Head coach Jeff Menaker's Maccabees are slated to be back in action in the spring semester, as Yeshiva is scheduled to play at Lehman College on March 10.
