The 2014 Yeshiva University men's tennis season got underway with a trio of matches for their nontraditional season recently. The Maccabees went 2-1 in the three games, beating Rutgers-Camden 8-1 on Oct. 15 and Bard College 6-3 on Oct. 18. The blemish was an 8-1 setback against Vassar College on Oct. 11.
Through the three games, Igal Mostkov has been stellar. He went 3-0 at No. 1 singles and teamed for a 2-1 record in doubles. He won three sets 6-0, including a 6-0, 6-0 victory over his opponent in the win against Bard.
Meanwhile Dmitri Lebedyev has held his own at No. 2 singles, going 2-1. After losing in three sets at the first match against Vassar, he came back to win sweeping sets in singles matches against Rutgers-Camden (6-1, 6-0) and Bard (7-5, 6-1). He is also 2-1 in doubles play.
The Maccabees have gone a combined 10-8 in singles play, and 5-4 in doubles.
