TEANECK, N.J.— Behind six first half goals, the Yeshiva men's soccer team scored an easy 6-1 win over Vaughn College on Wednesday evening.
The host Maccabees dominated the game from the outset. They scored their first goal 5:10 into the contest on a goal by
Itamar Ben David, his first of three in the first half for a hat trick. Yeshiva scored again moments later on a goal at 11:34 by
Rafi Friedman off a brilliant off balance pass by Ben David. Then just twenty-three seconds later, Ben David blasted home a shot off a perfect centering pass by
Akiva Glazerson to make the score 3-0 with just under twelve minutes gone by.
Ben David completed the hat-trick at 28:47 before a goal by
Sasha Bakal-Schlomann at 35:27 and a breakaway by Friedman at 37:41 rounded out the scoring and put the Maccabees up a half dozen before halftime.
During the first half, Yeshiva overwhelmed Vaughn with their athleticism and speed, beating the Warriors to the loose balls and powering through their defense.
The Maccabees held a 13-2 edge in shots during the first half and 10-7 in the second half.
Vaughn's lone goal came in the second half when Mahmoud Haggag scored at 73:42.
Joseph Blechner started in goal and made two saves in seventy-six minutes of play, while
Moishi Eisenmann played the final fourteen minutes in net.
Yeshiva returns to action on Friday for a contest at New Jersey Athletic Conference representative Montclair State University at noon.
