BOX SCOREFLUSHING, N.Y.— In its final tune-up before the 2014 Skyline Conference playoffs, the Yeshiva University women's tennis team beat St. Joseph's-Brooklyn 8-1 at the Queens College Tennis Complex on Monday evening.
The win ups Yeshiva to 7-3 overall, while St. Joseph's-Brooklyn is now 3-8.
In doubles play, Yeshiva swept the visiting Bears to take an early 3-0 lead. At No. 1 doubles,
Shani Hava and
Jannah Eichenbaum beat Tathiana Pierre and Victoria LoBosco 8-1. At No. 2 doubles,
Galila Shapiro and
Lindsay Frucher won 8-5 over the St. Joseph's-Brooklyn duo of Samantha Rossi and Mary Edward. In the No. 3 doubles position,
Anita Levy and
Dena Rubanowitz beat Madeline Moravek and Lauren Towey 8-0.
In singles play, Eichenbaum was defeated by Pierre 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1. At No. 2 doubles, Frucher was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Rossi. At No. 3, Hirt was a 6-1, 4-6, 10-8 winner over LoBosco. In the No. 4 singles match, Shapiro won 6-1, 6-4 against Edward. At No. 5 singles, Levy won 6-1, 6-1 over Moravek. At No. 6 singles, it was
Aliza Arbesfeld beating Princess Baptiste 6-0, 6-1.
Yeshiva's next match is the semifinal round of the 2014 Skyline Conference playoffs at St. Joseph's-Long Island at 5 p.m.
