PURCHASE, N.Y.— The Yeshiva men's basketball team was defeated on the road at nationally ranked Purchase College 80-51 on Sunday afternoon.
The Maccabees are now 6-16 overall and 4-11 in Skyline Conference play, while Purchase College is now 21-1 and remain unbeaten in Skyline Conference play at 15-0.
Yeshiva was led by
Benjy Ritholtz with 15 points. He connected on six field goals, with three of them coming from behind the arc.
Shlomo Weissberg added seven points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Yoni Eckmann had eight points and seven rebounds in the game.
Purchase was led by Andre Nixon with 22 points and six rebounds. He was 4-for-8 from three point range and shot 6-for-11 overall. Meanwhile teammate Justin Person had 11 points, four assists and three steals, while David Haughton had 10 points and nine rebounds.
Purchase led 39-27 at halftime and outscored Yeshiva 41-24 in the second half. The host Panthers held a 39-32 rebounding advantage and connected on 30-of-59 (50.8 percent) from the field. Yeshiva made 18-of-60 (30.0 percent) from the floor.
Yeshiva is back in action on Monday for a contest at St. Joseph's-Long Island at 8 p.m.
