EDGEWATER, N.J.— For the second time in as many games, the Yeshiva men's tennis team picked up a shutout win, as the Maccabees beat Sarah Lawrence College, 9-0, at the Binghamton Racquet Club on Wednesday evening.
Yeshiva is now 4-1 overall this season, while Sarah Lawrence falls to 0-2.
The Maccabees swept through doubles play. After winning by default at No. 3, the No. 1 team of
Igal Mostkov and
Steven Jemal were an 8-1 winner, while the No. 2 doubles duo of
Dmitri Lebedyev and
Robby Rubin were 8-0 winners.
The Maccabees won No. 6 singles by default, before Yeshiva got 6-0, 6-0 wins out of Nos. 3, 4 and 5. At No. 3 it was
Akiva Katz, at No. 4,
Avi Seidman and at No. 5
Meir Burk earned a shutout. At No. 1 singles,
Charles Saka was a 6-1, 6-2 victor, while at No. 2
Robby Rubin won 6-1, 6-0.
Yeshiva returns to action on Monday for a match against CCNY at 7 p.m. at the USTA National Tennis Center.
